A sustainable VC market needs to be trans-Tasman, says US analyst

The market is about to be ‘rejuvenated’ by the Canva IPO, which will return more funds to VCs than the entire industry to date.

The Australasian startup scene is young but, while the global industry is in the doldrums, there are some local ‘green shoots’.

New Zealand and Australia needs to see itself as an integrated “eco-system” for startups and cannot rely on global investors to fund new companies, according to an analyst from US firm Pitchbook.
