Nuclear option for Australia too expensive, says CSIRO
The report from Australia's national science organisation pours cold water on plans by the country's Opposition Coalition parties to embrace nuclear power.
The Coalition says it will build seven nuclear power plants if it wins Government.
The nuclear energy option for Australia would be twice as expensive as similar capacity from renewable energy and was unlikely to come on line by 2040, the likely retirement date for the last of the country’s large coal fired power stations.
