Australian Q2 GDP growth higher than expected at 0.4%

Quarterly data surprised on the upside but GDP has fallen to 2.1% on an annualised basis and the nation is technically in a 'per capita' recession.

Australian GDP growth has beaten most forecasts, increasing by 0.4% in the June quarter to take annual growth to 2.1%.

The result did, however, show that growth was slowing from an annualised 2.4% in the year to the end of March, and also marked the second successive quarter in which GDP per capita
