Aussie government budget set for blowout, despite higher revenues

Government spending has spiked, with an election due next year.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has said much of the spending is 'unavoidable'.

The Australian Government’s budget deficit will blow out by A$22b ($24b) over the next four years on forecasts contained in last May’s budget document under an update revealed today by Treasurer Jim Chalmers.
