ASIC vows to crack down on media leaks

As Kiwi regulators probe trading in Warehouse shares ahead of a takeover offer, their Australian counterpart is talking tough on leaks and insider trading.

ASIC is looking at implementing ‘put up or shut up’ rules used in the UK.

Media leaks are a stain on otherwise clean listed Australian equity markets, and regulator Australian Securities and Investments Commission (Asic) says it is building a dedicated “criminal investigation” team to pursue insider trading.
